Beard

A hair growth on chin and lower cheeks of males known as “Beard”. It is natural growth which every male possesses and many Muslims and non-Muslims but in Islam it has an immense place which is known as “Sunnah”.

Beard in Islam

In Islam is necessary it was a getup of Prophet Muhammad Peace Be upon Him that is why, it is a Sunnah as well. Allah and Prophet Muhammad Peace Be upon Him likes it if a Muslim grow his beard and trim his moustache. If we perform this sunnah then Allah bless us more.

Three aspects of the Beard

1. It belongs to the male anatomy which makes male beautiful, gives respectability, makes the man attractive. (This is only when it is kept in good trim).
2. It is a natural intrinsic part of male which are biological characteristics of male gender of the human being, its aim to distinguish between female and male. Conclusion of this very thing is also derive by logical reasoning and intellect.
3. Supplication of our Adam (AS), Allah, the Blessed, the Exalted, made the growth of hairs on chin and lower cheeks (beard) built-in natural feature of male, a plume which will continue being till the day of calculation.

Quran

Allah’s words:
“And most certainly I (Shaytan) will lead them astray and excite in them vain desires, and bid them that they shall slit the ears of the cattle, and most surely I will bid them so that they shallalter Allah’s creation, and whoever takes the Satan for a guardian rather than Allah he indeed shall suffer a manifest loss”. Chapter 4 (The Women / al-Nisa) Verse 119
This verse is an evidence that Evil (shetan) will try to destroy the natural things of human being which and beard is one of them, because, Allah dislikes and don’t want that his creation cut down the natural thing.

Sunnah (the tradition)

Our beloved Prophet also spent his life with it and a trimmed moustache and likes them more who grow it and worship Allah. He prefers those Sahaba more who grow beard and keep themselves neat. Now a days, during performing Hajj or 2016 umrah people use to keep beard and most of them grow beard for rest of their life.
